Disruptive technologies create enormous business opportunities, both for entrepreneurs and existing businesses. This course examines how to assess the impact of disruptive technology and understand business opportunities created through the lens of technologies causing global disruption: AI/machine learning, cybersecurity, carbon capture/sustainability technology, and genome editing. The course draws on a variety of disciplines including marketing, strategy, and business & society to enable the student to gain a rich understanding of how to assess, create a point of view and develop a new market created by disruptive technology. Throughout the semester, the class will welcome a series of guest speakers. Students from a different section of the course will be given the opportunity to participate in the lectures via Zoom. Professor Carty requires assistance in the classroom with managing the Zoom component of the class. The ideal applicant will be available on Mondays from February 6 to March 27 from approximately 5:45 pm (ET) to 8:15 pm (ET).
