As a TF, you will work with the faculty member in a number of ways: you help administer the course; you help evaluate written or oral assignments if called upon to do so; you mentor students and you review presentations with student teams (as requested by the faculty).
MBA STUDENTS In order to work as a Teaching Fellow, Graduate Fellow, or Grader/Tutor, you must have completed 9 or more credits as a Stern MBA student, have a GPA of at least 3.0, and be enrolled in the semester which you plan to work (with the exception of the summer term). Full-time and Part-time regular employees of NYU are not eligible to hold Teaching Fellow or Graduate Fellow positions. Please note that once your application has been approved by the Teaching Assistance Center, your pay will not be amended due to an increase or decrease in course enrollment. If you are an EMBA student and wish to be a TF or grader, please talk to the EMBA administration prior to applying.
UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS All undergraduate Teaching Fellows, Tutors, or Graders must be Stern juniors or seniors enrolled in the semester of appointment (with the exception of the summer term). There is a GPA requirement of at least 3.3. All students must have taken the course, its equivalent, or have the professor's permission to apply. Compensation is dependent on enrollment, course credit load, and other factors. Please note that once an application has been approved by the Teaching Assistance Center, compensation cannot be amended due to an increase or decrease in course enrollment.
International students who have a green card or hold an F-1 or J-1 visa are eligible to work. If you hold any other visa, such as an H-1B, you cannot work. International students that have graduated are not allowed to work.
