Professors Giulia Brancaccio and Laetitia Placido are currently recruiting multiple teaching fellows for Stern’s undergraduate microeconomics course for Spring 2025. Econ-UB 2 is an introductory microeconomics course for NYU Stern undergraduates. The course covers the behavior of individual consumers and firms. We provide insight into how markets work and whether market outcomes are desirable. Some of the key concepts we introduce include economic incentives, marginal analysis, opportunity cost (which costs matter), market efficiency (what does it mean for a market to work) and strategic behavior (how to predict and respond to your rivals’ decisions). We treat these topics using the tools of modern microeconomics, including calculus. Teaching fellows will lead weekly recitation sections with groups of 15-20 students, hold regular office hours, and coordinate with faculty on proctoring/grading assignments and exams. Historically compensation has been in the range of $5000-6950 per section (typical load is two sections) depending on experience. Why teach this course? Gain experience as an instructor in explaining to students key concepts that are relevant not only to economics, but also finance, operations research, and strategy. We will consider applications on a rolling basis. If you are interested, please send your CV and transcript to Giulia Brancaccio (gb2588@stern.nyu.edu) and Laetitia Placido (lp1419@stern.nyu.edu) Professors Giulia Brancaccio, and Laetitia Placido
