The Commerce & Culture course is seeking 2-4 writing tutors to support the first core critical thinking and writing course for NYU Stern undergraduates. Preference is for advanced graduate students with proficiency and experience teaching/tutoring the technics of analytical writing (sentence structures, syntax, grammar, thesis development, paragraph organization, essay structures and forms). The tutors will have two main responsibilities. First, they will work individually with students referred by course instructors for extra help. Using students’ written material from the course, they will help students build and sharpen writing skills and proficiencies. Second, tutors will develop material for and lead 3-4 “writing workshops” over the course of the semester; each workshop will be structured by theme (e.g., developing a thesis) and will deliver content and guide practice sessions, approx. 90 minutes each. Please forward your resume directly to Professor Robert Wosnitzer at rjw246@stern.nyu.edu. Professor Wosnitzer will directly contact candidates for interviews. Compensation is hourly; expected hours per semester approx. 30-40+
